In open field cultivation, Vivacy tomato has excellent plant health, with strong leaves that withstand long periods of rain and heat. Speaking of rain, the Vivacy tomato fruit stands out among its competitors, as it has a greater tolerance for cracks and stains, which are common at this time of year. Vivacy tomato has a broad package of resistance to soil pathogens such as:
• Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici race 3;
• Root-knot nematode; • Verticilium spp.;
• Aerial diseases such as bacterial spot;
• Viruses such as the flipper and geminivirus.
The plant has a sequence of bunches with very high fruit set, ranging on average from 8 to 12 fruits per bunch. This characteristic results in a productive potential of 600 boxes/thousand plants, with an average production of 400-550/thousand plants.
The elongated fruits, on average 10 cm long and 5 cm in diameter, weigh an average of 170g. When ripe, the fruit has an intense red color and high brix, responsible for the higher quality of the fruits such as flavor and attractiveness when selecting them on the supermarket shelves. The maturation from the inside out and the firmness of the fruit allow for an early harvest, transport over long distances and an excellent post-harvest.
